Pam will be at the store all day today and looks forward to showing you techniques and ideas to help with your next project, or even your first project! That's one of the sole differences between Art 'n Soul and other big box stores . . . they don't take the time to show you how something works, work with you on your latest project, or recommend tools and supplies that will be best for your project. We hope that you will always keep that in mind! We love our customers and we love meeting new customers who have never visited Art 'n Soul before.

Magenta has announced another new member to their Design Team. Her name is Miranda Degenaars and she hails from the Netherlands. On the Magenta blog, here is her first official introductory card posting . . .

Sandy Allnock has shown several techniques on the various Art Squares from Inchie Arts. Some we've enjoyed in classes at Art 'n Soul taught by Lisa Lee, creator and owner of Inchie Arts. It's worth your while to go to Sandy's posting for her "take" on inches, twinchies and ATC's from Inchie Arts.

On the Hero Arts' blog, Mariana Grigsby shares how to use die cuts as masks for different uses. Enjoy the video!

On the Ranger blog, Anna-Karin has made a tag that I really like because it features one of those Bird Crazy stamps by Tim Holtz. The tutorial is about Ranger's Micro Glaze as a water-resist. And, this project uses the latest Distress Ink colors that have been streaming in at Art 'n Soul.

Carolyn had a great weekend at Art 'n Soul and Pam is going to start another great week at Art 'n Soul. Have you put in your latest order from Impression Obsession? I just finished mine last week . . . there are so many great selections from which to choose. Pam will point you in the right direction if you get lost in their newest catalog release or an older version.

Kazuko Kocho's daughter is a budding artist. I share this photo of a recent colored pencil work by Emma. As some of you may know, Kazuko has taught at Art 'n Soul and she has an open invitation to return, soon we hope!

On the Penny Black blog, they're offering a $25 gift certificate if you leave a comment on their blog posting today (Friday) and also like their Facebook Page. What drew me to the posting are two cards using stamps from their latest holiday release . . .

This is one of the most beautiful cards I have ever seen on the PoppyStamps' blog. Olga has used 6 PoppyStamps' dies for a special birthday card! I have some of the dies and I'm going to seriously consider purchasing those that she used which are not in my personal stash!

Shelby Thomas has made a video showing her technique for making this lovely card using Distress Inks and Perfect Pearls on the Memory Box blog. It's a very similar technique that is frequently demonstrated at Art 'n Soul.

It's time to turn in, even though I've been sleeping forever it seems. We're supposed to enjoy rain this weekend; it's been quite elusive this summer and everything is so parched. It's also heightened the fire danger level to maximum in Washington State and much of our state's natural lands are burning up. So if you have nothing to do between artistic projects, please do a rain dance for us.

Night Night!

Another fabulous weekend of creativity at Art 'n Soul. Pics will be found later in this posting.

Art 'n Soul's Inspiration Station features Magenta's new watercolor powders, Nuance. You can spend hours playing with it!

Today's Inspiration Station comes from Carolyn Gough. This is the perfect card for the guys!

by Carolyn Gough
  • Spray watercolor paper with water. Spread dry Perfect Pearls in Blue with a large brush.
  • Sprinkle Nuance in Cerulean Blue and Royal Blue. After it has dissolved, sprinkle more Nuance if you desire.
  • Allow to dry or use a heat tool to dry,
  • Stamp the Antique Car (Art Impressions T-2233) onto vellum with StazOn ink. Once dry, cut out the car image.
  • Stamp the sentiment (Impression Obsession CL43) onto acetate with StazOn ink; once dry, cut out as shown on sample card.
  • Layer the pieces . . . cut-outs onto the watercolored background panel; layer the watercolor panel onto black card stock as a 'matting frame'; then adhere to card base.
I love that old car!

The Hasty Lace class students created lovely designs that even the teacher was amazed at! Sandy Jackson, creator of Some-Assembly-Required's Hasty Lace, marveled at how much she learns from students while teaching a class.

On Sandy Allnock's blog, she has made a 'comic strip' template that you can download; it comes in two sizes. These templates are perfect to use with the new Tim Holtz Crazy "Talk", "Thoughts" and "Things" stamp sets and Crazy "Bird" die set that we've been absolutely CRAZY about at Art 'n Soul.
