At the birthday party, Marj wanted to show how 'magical' the Spellbinders' Grand Caliber die machine is. Her creativity is incredibly imaginative and 'spellbinding' as you will see in these images. The pics above are of a bird house that Marj made using the Grand Caliber and Memory Box and Spellbinders' Grand Label dies with Pink Paislee's Butterfly Garden paper collection.

  •  Take Marj's Aviary Architecture class on Saturday, August 20, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. to make this bird house using dies from Memory Box and Spellbinders. Sign up asap because it will not be repeated. $30

Showing more of the fun Marj had with her Grand Caliber . . .

Spellbinders has added Grand Impressabilities to their summer release that work in the Grand Caliber . . . I knew that last pink sheet wouldn't suffice!

The amazing Impressabilities that you have come to love are now available in our Grand new size!! Grand Impressabilities are 8 1/2″ x 11″ in size.  They coordinate perfectly with our Grand Nestabilities®.  Emboss these gorgeous patterns on your scrapbook pages, mixed media projects and card bases.

This card was made to feature Judikins' Gel du Soleil. Brushing this resin-like product onto the tissue paper and letting it sit in the sun for 15 minutes made the 7 Gypsies tissue paper translucent. The tissue paper became a soft plastic that remained quite pliable. The Judikins' iron fence gate image stamped onto white cardstock and colored with Ranger Distress inkpad. I used the remaining cardstock from a nestability diecut as a frame for the tissue paper. I placed the tissue paper over the stamp image, covered it with the die cut 'frame', and Marj beautifully colored and embellished it all to make this beautiful card.

We'll be playing more with the tissue paper and Gel du Soleil!
Pics of the birthday party wouldn't be complete without one of Sue's yummy and beautiful mini-cupcakes.

From today's drive around Lake Tahoe . . . all 72 miles. This was the pier leading from a restaurant we stopped at for lunch (great mahi mahi tacos!) . . .
I learned that Lake Tahoe is the 10th deepest lake (1,645 feet) in the world,
boasts a volume of over 39 TRILLION gallons of water (enough to cover the
entire state of California with more than a foot of water), and is 22 miles long and 12 miles wide. An average of 47 inches of water evaporates annually from the lake, twice
as much as what leaves through the outlet to the Truckee River, and water
stays in the lake approx. 700 years which means some of the water we saw today
was there when Marco Polo returned to Europe! In contrast, water in Lake
Erie only stays for two years! And while this is fantastic ski country during
the winter, the lake never freezes over. The water is continually moving
because the freezing water on top sinks to the bottom, pushing up the warmer
waters to the top. We are at an altitude of just over 6,200 feet and the
thin air is what helps make the lake's crystalline waters show so clear.

Enough education . . . stamp something!
