Sunday's 11th Birthday Party at Art 'n Soul was an absolute fun and festive celebration, highlighted by marvelous demo's from our own Marj Marion demo'ing how to get the most from your Memory Box die cuts; Sandy Jackson with Hasty Lace Designs; Sandy Allnock representing Art Impressions Rubber Stamps and watercoloring techniques; Helene Metivier with Magenta introducing their brand new template designs and Nuance powdered watercolors; and John Creighton Petersen with IMAGINE Crafts featuring their new Iridescent Creative Mediums, Radiant Neon Amplify!, and StazOn Studio Glaze. Balloons were popping to figure out how much of a discount would be applied at check-out.
On to the party!
Marj displayed her lovely artistry in card designs featuring Memory Box dies. If there is anyone who can make the most of any one product or type of product, it's Marj!

Marj also showed additional uses of these landscape edge dies from Poppy Stamps. All 4 of her samples are beautiful basics using watercolor card stock from which to design an elegant card for any occasion.

This is another valuable tip from Marj . . .
Sandy Jackson's Hasty Lace projects are taking a nice new turn in design and size. Many of her new templates and overall design take on a quilting quality; what's so very cool about these designs is the flip side of each work is completely different and just as appealing as the original side. She calls these "innies and outies."

The templates we're using in Sandy's upcoming Hasty Lace classes are not as large, and not necessarily as complex. If you're interested in Hasty Lace, quilting and/or zentangling™, you'll want to sign up for Sandy's classes.
Saturday, July 25, 10:30 am–12:30 p.m.

by Sandy Jackson for Class at Art 'n Soul Innie & Outie Feather Vignette |
We will use the new scoring templates to establish a pattern, and new pattern templates to fill in. The embossing is done on both sides of the vellum to set each motif apart and give the paper a wonderful texture. Light colored vellum will be used. We will make one card, and for those who finish in time, a second card can be done using different patterns. No prior experience is needed for this class. Come and learn how fun and easy creating fabulous Hasty Lace® can be!
Being able to see is important for this class! Bring your best detail eyewear/and or magnification if you need it, and a work lamp if you have it. Maximum of 8 students.
Saturday, July 25, 1:30 pm–2:15 pm
FREE TRUNK SHOW AND LECTURE – open to everyone

“HASTY LACE®: INNIE AND OUTIE PAPER QUILT”
(Intermediate/Advanced)
Sandy Jackson from Some Assembly Required -- $32

by Sandy Jackson for Class at Art 'n Soul
Innie & Outie Paper Quilt Class |
This is a 3 hour class.
The first hour will be devoted to a show & tell lecture
about the new Hasty Lace® Scoring Templates and how they can be used to
make many different designs from each template. This part of the class is free of charge and open to all who wish to attend.
The second two hours will be devoted to making a paper quilt with one of the Scoring Templates and all of the new Pattern Templates. We will all use the
same layout, but each person can choose the patterns to fill it in. The
embossing is done on both sides of the vellum to set each motif apart and
give the paper a wonderful texture. Colored vellum will be used for this
project, so bringing a light tablet to work on is required. After making the
design, we will add an embossed frame around it — a very useful technique
to learn. A two-sided precut matte will be provided to finish the project on both
sides; so that each side of the paper, which will have a different look, can be enjoyed. Maximum of 8 students.
This is an Intermediate/Advanced class for those who have some experience
with using Hasty Lace® Templates. You will need a light pad or light table.
Being able to see is important for this class! Bring your best detail eyewear/and or magnification if you need it.
Remember what we said about those balloons at the party? Well, TJ Thornton is the lucky partygoer who selected the balloon with a 50% discount! Yep, her entire purchase was discounted by 50% as part of Art 'n Soul's 11th Birthday Party celebration. Congratulations, TJ!
