Marj is still enthused about the shaker cards and brings us another wonderful sample card . . .
by Marj Marion |
Marj's camera wasn't working at her recent Backgrounds and Die Cutting Class, so sadly, no photos of the wonderful cards her students created. It was fun to see the various creative approaches they used on the class projects. After class, Marj was still excited about this Memory Box Die . . . Splashing Puddles (99062). So, she took her renewed enthusiasm for shaker cards, and made yet another variation of the class project using this die.
Here are the steps:
- Rub various shades of blue and green Inka Gold paint over a white piece of cardstock, and buff it when dry.
- Die cut with Splashing Puddles.
- Use Memory Box Shaker Rectangle Frames-30003 to make a teal frame.
- Glue on a panel of acetate to the back of the frame.
- Turn over, and stamp Rosie Roadshow several times on the acetate with Black Stazon, and let dry.
- Turn over, add narrow strips of foam tape to the entire frame, making sure there are no gaps.
- Fill the center areas with assorted silver, clear micro beads and other tiny embellishments.
- Remove the liner from the foam tape, and attach the Splashing Puddle decorated panel to the exposed foam tape.
- Back the entire piece with a matching teal panel die cut from Studio Rectangle Layers--M. Box 30033.
- Stamp any raindrop stamp on a light green panel, and attach this to the teal folded card.
- Glue on your shaker panel, and stamp Rosie Roadshow quote: " Find the wonderful in today." at the bottom of the card.
Marj will bring the card to the store if you want to see it in person. This rain theme card is great for Western Washington!

Sandy Allnock, a certified Copic instructor, showed Tim Holtz how she could achieve a watercolor background using Copic markers instead of Distress inks. He couldn't believe it, so Sandy prepared a video that I think you should see. She is using that crazy new stamp set of Tim's, "Bird Crazy" that I think is adorable.

I made a card top . . . haven't figured out what I want to use for the base card. I had fun doing something "fun" as a change of pace for the day, even though it's a wee bit late.
