The new Graphic 45 Bohemian Bazaar paper collection is at Art 'n Soul, including the 8x8 paper pads. The colors are vivid and beautiful. Some of the designs on the papers are 'asking me' to try and draw them free-hand and whip up my own color combinations. I hope you like them . . .

The back-up order for the Gelli Art Gelly Printing Plates is expected to arrive soon; if you haven't purchased one yet, you might want to 'pre-order' one from Art 'n Soul as soon as possible by stopping in or calling the store at 360.357.6820. Why? Because they're going to go flying out the door!

Back to Art 'n Soul's 10th Birthday Party . . .

Judikins' Mica Gloss has been re-discovered. Combined with some cool stamps, Deb Kuttel demonstrated how easy it is to make awesome art for cards, art for framing, and art for jewelry, etc.

To make these, Deb followed this procedure using the Judikins' Mica Gloss, shrink plastic and a Clay Squisher.
  • Put three different colors of the Mica Gloss on the craft sheet.
  • Brayer them together, but just to mix a little, not too much.
  • Brayer the Mica Gloss onto the shrink plastic.
  • Heat the shrink plastic until it's shrunk and then press it into the Clay Squisher to etch the pattern into the plastic.

To make these beautiful card prints suitable for framing, put dots of Mica Gloss colors of your choice on a kraft sheet. Brayer through the colors. Ink the stamp of your choice with the color mixture on the craft sheet, and then stamp onto Judikins' beautiful glossy card stock in black. The card stock accompanying the stamped image is made from the extra Mica Gloss on the brayer; might as well use it up instead of wiping it all away.

For the card on the left, the stamp was inked by brayering the mixed Mica Gloss colors directly onto the stamp image. For the card on the right, the stamp was pressed into the mixed Mica Gloss colors on the kraft sheet before impressing it onto the glossy black card stock. Deb prefers the result from the brayered ink application.

I have to say this pic and the pic below show my
favorite impressions; the camera is unable to show
just how 'wet and shiny' this black glossy card stock is
from Judikins!

Alissa introduced We R Memory Keepers' new envelope punch board. This tool was introduced at CHA in January and has been rather difficult to find; everywhere, it's selling out! We sold out of the ones we had and we're in line to receive more next month. Never has making a personalized envelope been so much fun!

A couple of 'funny' moments while preparing for the birthday party to share with you.

All of the balloons had to be blown up, then tied with
string. Patti offered to help with the balloon tying . . .
we're not quite sure how this pose fits into tying off the
balloon and then tying a string of ribbon . . . only Patti can tell us!

When I was taking a photo of Alissa working on the
envelope punch board, I asked Susie to move her
banana peel. We then decided the banana peel added
a little element of fun and whimsy, so here it is! In
fact, it was so funny and full of whimsy that Alissa
couldn't stop laughing!

Rainy weather isn't fun in the summer months, but . . . it sure is a good excuse to stay inside and play. So we encourage you to get your stamping mojo going this week. And if you need some inspiration for or assistance with your stamping mojo, stop into Art 'n Soul . . . we'd love to help your mojo!

Tomorrow, I'll share awesome zentangling work by Mike Turner, and a couple of beautiful cards by Kathy Schwartz. Please stay tuned . . .
