Today (Wednesday, December 12, 2012) is the start of Art 'n Soul's 12 Days of Christmas. This first day brings you "Double Marks on my Loyalty Card". As Patti sings . . . 'oh, what fun! it is to shop! at Art 'n Soul today!"

SEI sent new Christmas papers . . . wish we'd had these earlier because they're beautiful. Perhaps you . . . still have some remaining cards to make (or all of them, like me!); want to start on next year's cards; think these papers would make beautiful gift tags; or, there's some last-minute decor items you can make with any combination of these papers with stamps, dies and other embellishments for your home, office or as a gift. A great way to rack up some double marks on your Art 'n Soul Loyalty Card.

this paper is a woven fiber

These is the 6x6 paper pad, containing
extra papers not available in 12x12

These are some of those papers . . .

I wish these photos were better so you could see how pretty these papers really are in person! You'd better come to the store, please, and take a look for yourself!

And you could also rack up some double marks by purchasing the new Riley stamps that arrived from Notions yesterday. They are quite amusing and hilarious, and I'm going to make a small set of note cards for Christmas gifts using these stamps. I do appreciate that not everyone will have the same warped mind for humor that I do, but I'm sure everyone will see at least one stamp that they like and can easily relate to. A few more stamps were back-ordered so when they arrive, I'll be sure to share those with you as well.

It can be fun to laugh at yourself, right?

Marge Chandler was finishing up her Christmas cards today and I wanted to share 3 of her cards with you . . . most of the stamps and/or dies are from Memory Box.

From Spellbinders' blog . . . I personally love this project! If I had more time, I would like to have made enough of these to hang from each bedroom door during the holidays.

Handmade Gift
by Linda Lucas

"Handmade Gifts are this weeks theme and one I personally love.  There is nothing that touches the heart more than a gift that is created from the heart - it reflects long lasting memories to express the the language of love, celebration, comfort and encouragement.

by Linda Lucas

This week we are sharing ideas with you that we hope will inspire you in a way that enhances the very “nature of giving”

Spellbinders™ Paper Arts Supplies:
  • GC-001 Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine
  • LF-015 Decorative Grand Circles Nestabilities®
  • LF-114 Grand Circles Nestabilities®
  • LF-014 Jewel Alphabet Shapeabilities®
  • S4-116 Standard Circles SM Nestabilities®
  • S4-114 Standard Circles LG Nestabilities®
Preferred Promotional Partners:

  • Penny Black® Inc. - Holiday Delight
  • Want2Scrap -
Cross Promotional Partners:

  • SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ - Thin 3D Foam Squares
  • Bazzill Basics Paper® - White card
  • Scor-Pal® - 1/2" Tape
  • Beacon Adhesives - Zip Dry Paper Glue
  • Clearsnap - Stylus - Cat's Eye Adapter Set
Other: Acrylic Block, Colouring Pencils, Scissors, wax paper, Satin Ribbon, large brad, wide foam tape, Linen Ink, Walnut Ink

Start by stamping three (3) of the Penny Black® Inc. Holiday Delight stamp onto white card and cut out each one using the Spellbinders Grand Calibur® Machine and the Grand Circles Nestabilities®.  Using the Die as a Stencil, sponge around the inside edges using the Clearsnap - Stylus - Cat's Eye Adapter and linen ink

Remove the Die Cut images from the Nestabilities.  I have precoloured the images.

Cut out three (3)  Decorative Grand Circles Nestabilities® in red card.

Cut out three (3) of the Standard Circles SM Nestabilities® in gold card and three (3) of theStandard Circles LG Nestabilities® in red card. * Use size 5 from each Die. Add a layer of wax paper between the card and the Die, wax side up to make it easier to remove the card from the Die - this especially helps remove the filigree Dies without tearing. Layer the gold circle on to the larger red one using SCRAPBOOK ADHESIVES BY 3L™ - Thin 3D Foam Squares

*NOTE: Spellbinders are numbered from the smallest to the largest - one being the smallest.

Next cut the letters from the Jewel Alphabet Shapeabilities® J,O and Y in white card and use the Dies as a Stencil, sponging with Linen and Walnut to age the letters.  Remove from the Die.  Adhere each letter onto one medallion using Beacon Adhesives - Zip Dry Paper Glue.

Add a double row of Scor-Pal® - 1/2" Tape down the center of the back of each circle, attach one end of the Satin Ribbon to the top of the first circle (with the letter 'J' on it).  Allow enough ribbon to form a loop at the top and then continue to adhere the ribbon along all of the circles as shown in the photos below.

Adhere wide foam tape on the back of circle, a piece either side of the ribbon and long the center, attach the Decorative Grand Circles Nestabilities® to the back of each circle.

Make  a bow made with the Satin Ribbon, attaching a large decorative brad to the center.  Attach to the base of the ribbon loop using the Beacon Adhesives - Zip Dry Paper Glue.  Add small red Want2Scrap pearls on each letter as shown in the photo below.

Finish off by adding bling to each circle and on the ribbon at the base, dove tail the end of the ribbon.

Thank you for visiting today, I hope that you are inspired to think 'outside the square' with your handmade gifts, everyone of them being an expression of your art and the heart."

Tuesday T&T Embossing With Glitter

VO1
by Shirley Ross
"Okay, so I finally did it.  I managed to get past the awesome dies and into some great stamps I wanted to use for my Christmas cards.   I absolutely fell in love with  the Tapestry Ornament by Alesa Baker, and, of course her Tapestry Banner too.   Oh yes, and her Fall Branch too.  I am not good at taking photos of anything with glitter it seems.  :-(
Images With Glitter:
  1. Stamped images on white cardstock with VersaMark ink pad.  Added Stamp and Bond powder, heated until clear, added glitter, heated again.
  2. Cut out all of the images.
Branch Image:
  1. Stamped on white cardstock with Memento Olive Grove and painted with Twinkling H2O's.  Other mediums work just fine.
  2. Fliped over and embossed from the back with a stylus.
Sentiment:
  1. Stamped on leftover white cardstock with Delicata Golden Glitz ink.
  2. Used a leftover piece of one of the banners as a frame for the sentiment as shown.
Assembly:
  1. Found a remnant piece of pink carstock agreeing with the glitter and cut to 4.25"X5.5"
  2. Mounted a 4"X5.25" piece of White Laid cardstock.
  3. Lined up and mounted the banners as shown.
  4. Used the Delicata ink pad to edge the ornament and the frame for the sentiment.
  5. Mounted the branch and ornament with 3D pop-dots.
  6. Mounted the framed sentiment.
  7. Added the pearls and the stick pin with pearl heart and pink bicone bead.
This truly is one of those situations where the card is so much prettier IRL.  If you ever have any questions on how I did something and didn't mention it, feel free to email me.
Thanks for stopping by.  You still have time to join in the "Celebrating The Holidays Challenge".  For the details go HERE.  See back here for DT Thursday and the challenge winner too!!"

"I'm taking a little break today from the holiday cards, and decided to share with you a great card for a new baby. This is a wing-fold card which is really simple to make, but is very impressive to recieve.

Mist (blue) cardstock: 5 ¾ x 12” - scored at 3 3/8; 5 1/8; 6 7/8; 8 5/8
Cut (2) from Lullaby 3 1/8 x5 ½
Cut (3) from Bundle of Joy 1 ½ x 5 ½
Die cut:
(2) Victorian Garden Doily Frame in Ivory
(1) Japanese Lace Oval Angel Wing in Ivory
(1) Japanese Lace Oval in New Arrival
1. Ink the edges of all patterned papers with Dark Cashmere ink. Adhere the Victorian Garden Doily to each of the Lullaby mats. Trim the excess from the doily frame.Glue panels to the outer sides of the card base.

2. Glue the three small Bundle of Joy papers to the 3 center panels of the card.

3. Glue the Japanese Lace Oval diecut to the cut shadow background. Add pearls to each tip.

4. Trace the oval from the Japanese Lace oval, and cut from Ivory cardstock. Ink the edges. Stamp the baby using Robin’s Egg. Allow to dry completely, and stamp the sentiment, slightly overlapping the image using embossing ink. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat set.
