From Impression Obsession . . . we love birds at Art 'n Soul and these blog postings from IO seemed just the right 'lessons' to post.

"I really couldn't get the pretty dkdesigns Bird Collage 4 out of my mind.  The "Just A Note" sentiment seemed to fit right in too, and to give it a great touch of pattern for the BG I used the Cover-A-Card Marquise.
  1. Used Memento Summer Sky to stamp the image once and the flower twice (to be able to layer it), the sentiment, and the CAC background.
  2. Used Spellbinders largest Floral Oval and then sponged the center with the same ink.
  3. Used the smallest Floral Oval for the sentiment.
  4. Trimmed and layered the bird, leaves, and rose.
  5. Mounted everything on the CAC background with 3D pop dots and it was good to go.
  6. Pearl stickers and Blue ribbon were used as embellishments."

Tuesday T&T About Those Birds!

"No need to say I am really in love with the dkdesigns and this is what I did quickly with two of the birds:
FTB4 (2)
Bird Collage 1 - E13043, Happy is the Heart - B11073, Elegant Flourish 2 - A8688, Cover-a-Card Sm. Quatrefoil - CC125
Okay, so he looks like a Gingerbread Bird!!!  I used the items below to create my images.  For the Bird Collage 1, I used a really simple stamp technique known to most as "Kissing".
Background and Image stamp area:
FTB2 (2)
Background Image:
FTB5 (2)
  1. CAC Sm. Quatrefoil was inked with Memento Bamboo Green ink and stamped on Neenah Natural (off-white, ivory, cream, etc.) cardstock using my Mega Mount. (The Bird Collage image was stamped in the vacant space left on the cardstock.
Bird Collage Kissing:
  FTB2 (1)
  1. The Quatrefoil stamp (laid flat) was inked with the Memento Bamboo Green.
  2. Bird Collage 1 was inked with Memento Desert Sand and then pressed (kiss) to the Quatrefoil stamp.
  3. The Bird Collage was stamped 3 times to vacant areas on the Natural cardstock.
  4. The rose and leaves were painted with twinks, but dyes, other watercolors, or Copic/ShinHan markers can also be used.
  5. One was trimmed around.  On the second I trimmed around the rose with leaves. and mounted to the bird with 3D pop-dots.
  6. I used an olive green marker around the edges of all but the rose petal edges.
Assembly:
FTB5 (1)
  1. The background was mounted to another piece of natural cardstock.
  2. the ribbon was laid diagonally in the center.
  3. The bird was mounted to the sentiment.
  4. The bird with sentiment was mounted to cardfront with 3D pop-dots.
  5. A bow was made with May Arts ribbon and the Bow-Easy and mounted as shown.
  6. Pearls were added to the bird as shown.  A little bit of Viva Decor Clear Glass was added to the flourishes around the rose.
  7. A pearl heart stickpin was added."

"On to my second card for the birds:

Cover-a-Card Toile - CC127, Bird Collage 4 - E13046, So Thankful - B11072, Elegant Flourish 2 - A8688
Images:
FTB11B
  1. Maybe this was too easy!  All the images were stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa on an 8.5"X11".  The Bird Collage 4 was stamped 3 times. (One extra for layering and one for the inside of the card)  The roses were painted with a pink
  2. Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles (the two middle dies) were put through the Cuttlebug and then sponged around the edges edges with Rich Cocoa, using the die as a stencil.
Assembly:
  1. A 5"X5" Cover-a-Card Toile piece was mounted on a 5.25"X5.25" piece of dark brown cardstock.
  2. The roses were painted with a darker pink.
  3. A remnant piece of ribbon was placed across the middle.
  4. A Bird Collage 4 was trimmed and mounted to the largest Romantic Rectangle.  The tail was left loose so the sentiment could be attached.
  5. The sentiment was attached.
  6. A bow made with the Bow-Easy from more remnant ribbon and mounted.
  7. A pearl was mounted on the rose and a heart pearl mounted on the right-hand bottom of the sentiment.
FTB11c
Inside Card - Left-hand Side:
  1. The torn edges were sponged, the back taped and it was mounted to the left-side as shown.
Thanks for stopping by to look and share.  See you back here on DT Thursday!!"

Notebook - Kianel

"Hello dear Cheery Lynn designs lovers, Kianel here with you today for another project made using the fantastic Cheery Lynn designs dies! Today i am showing you a booknote i made for the coming school start for the year 2012 - 2013.
This notebook is 21x10,5cm and is 1cm deep. The layer is made using mini pearl square mega doily and the coloured image is placed on XL scalloped oval stackers.
The big flower is made with Frangipani with leaves (cut it out 3 times to build the flower). The leaves are from the same set + olive branches + dimensional small leaves set #2.

The flower in the bottom is made with Build a flower set #1, using the stamens parts and the olive branches.
The little book is made using mini pearl square mega doilysize one (smallest) and adding pages cut from theLittle square stackers that i worked with 3D pads to give it a shape.
The border used to decorated is the beutiful Wedding garter.

On the side i have written the text using Micro Mini alphabet 1/4" tall as it was the perfect size here and also because it has both letters and numbers inside!

Papers are from Bazzill and Kaisercraft. Stamp is from the latest Magnolia collection. Colouring is made with distress inks. Shimmer on the leaves and flowers is made using Creative Inspirations paints."

Love from France, Kianel.

Summer Colors and Butterflies

"Our challenge this week is to use hot summer colors, I think I got that covered, lol. I am using a really great sketch from Mojo Monday, I chose the round version. To create the base of my card, I used my Scalloped Circle Mega Doily Reflections dies; also for the scalloped circle behind the sentiment. To create the scalloped edge on the rectangle panel, I used Scalloped Square Mega DoilyReflections dies. The size of the scallops match so they coordinate really well. I used the largest die in the Silver Circle Little Stackers die set to cut the red dotted panel behind the sentiment. It is the perfect size to fit in the scalloped circle.
The largest butterfly is from the Exotic Butterflies Small 2 set, the smaller ones are from the Exotic Butterflies Small set. Just look at the lacy beauty of these dies. And the fact that you get 3 butterflies in each set is a bonus!  =I added some Viva Decor Pearl pen accents on the scallops as well as the bodies of the butterflies. All of the DP is from the Basic Grey June Bug 6x6 paper pad.  Finished size is 6.5"."

Lace Edger Gift Box and Cards

"Sheila Lygo is here with us again to fill in for Debbie. She has created a wonderful gift box and note cards using Cheery Lynn Designs Lace Edger. This is a very versatile die that can be used to edge your card as shown on Sheila's note cards or to create a border as shown on the gift box. She also added a butterfly embellishment from the Exotic Butterflies Small die set to the top of the box. Thank you, Sheila, for this wonderful inspiration. It makes a fabulous gift for most any occasion."

From Elizabeth Craft Designs . . . it looks like I'm going to have to buy more Glitter Ritz! and glitter dot peel-offs!

by Els for Elizabeth Craft Designs
"This is my new design flowers in Frame 2 (nr. 2534 in black). For the coloring I used the Tombow markers. Background is the Be Creative tape 65mm with our Grasshopper micro fine glitter (nr 74) and 'burnished' it into the tape. To finish the card I used the black swirly border (nr 1271) and added the orange Glitter Dots (nr 7018)."

Take a look at this jewelry Els made with the Shimmer Sheetz!
by Els with Elizabeth Craft Designs
"It all started with 6 pieces of 4 x 5 inch Shimmer Sheetz. I used the Amethyst, Peridot and Turquoise Gemstone colors. I did pick these because they have a silver core. Added blending solution and drops of Alcohol ink."

I think Els' experiment worked, don't you?
