Today's Karen Lockhart classes at Art 'n Soul provided fun and oodles of colored pencil techniques, followed up with zentangling techniques to combine with colored pencil fun. We hope Karen will return again next year!
These are the samples Karen brought to the Oodles of Doodles and Colored Pencils class. The first 3 boards were the stamped images she provided to each student to doodle and color.

I had to share this sample board because I've always loved the comfy cozy chair stamp; I love it even more after seeing the doodles Karen added.

Cheryl Rosskopf
Karen thought Cheryl's pumpkin was so good, she suggested a couple of ideas.
Karen then asked if she could color Cheryl's pumpkin 'house."
And here's the final product . . . a joint effort by Cheryl & Karen!
Did you see the chimney?

Karen commented that Art 'n Soul students were the most advanced compared to the other stores she has taught this technique to, and enjoyed seeing the versatility in the doodles used. Other than the 'pumpkin house' by Cheryl, the remaining works were truly 'works in progress' and not finished.

A nice tool that Karen made available was a chart that you can use when coloring your stamped images. The chart allows you to show all of the colors you used and the progression of the color values. The printed version is available for 50-cents.

Susie's Wooden Board Book class on August 7 filled up quickly; luckily, she has scheduled another class on Saturday, October 27,  from 1:00 to 4:00 that afternoon. If you want in on this new technique using special wood boards from Magenta, please call or stop into the store asap to sign up . . . 360.357.6820.

Susie - “COLORED WOODEN BOARD BOOK, $31
What happens when you mix a thin piece of wood, some alcohol inks, some beautiful Magenta rubber stamps, and lots of colored pencils?  You have created a charming little book, held together with rings and fibers and ribbons.  It’s easy and fun and would even make an impressive gift!  In class you will complete staining the boards, stamping the images you choose, and coloring as many pages as you can.  Some pages you will have to finish coloring at home.  Everything will be provided, including a big assortment of Prismacolor pencils.  If you want to bring your own pencils, that’s fine too.

It's another fun Saturday at Art 'n Soul. This afternoon, John Petersen is going to teach us how to make a paper bead bracelet . . .

Creativity is music to the soul . . . and is easily rejuvenated at Art 'n Soul!
