Happy Father's Day to all!

So our store family can share this special day with their families, Art 'n Soul will be closed today. We'll be open at 10:00 a.m. on Monday!

I'm happy to share this latest posting from Els at Elizabeth Craft Designs . . .
by Els for Elizabeth Craft Designs
"For this card I used Peel Off sticker 1282 Circle of Roses in black. For the Coloring I used the Spectrum Noir pens but you can use Copic markers as well of course. Background is Shimmer Sheetz patchwork. Added 397 Happy Birthday in black on a strip of the Micro fine glitter."

And I'll leave you with this beautiful Father's Day card by Judi Kauffman shared by Els . . .

by Judi Kauffman

"Judi Kauffman shared the card she made for her 94-year-old dad and the story behind it. She created a miniature rug by embossing red cardstock in two directions to look like weaving, fringing the ends with side-by-side cuts (Sizzix Tim Holtz embossing folder 657849). She layered it onto polka dot and striped cardstock and spelled the word DAD with matching stickers (Graphic 45 Olde Curiosity Shoppe collection). Then, she stamped a moon in Denim blue onto a card stock scrap already smudged with red and cranberry inks (Ranger Adirondacks), and cut it out.

Last, but not least, she created a landscape with embossed leaves and branches (Shimmer Sheetz Gemstones Fire Opal, embossed with Sizzix folder Leaves from the set Peacocks and Leaves, altered with alcohol inks and lightly sanded). For added dimension in the landscape she used foam squares. The symbolism: She said that her father used to read to her at bedtime and they called story time a magic carpet ride!

Judi said that you could use this same idea with any color palette and any name or date! If you don't want to cut little slits to fringe the "rug" you can just use any embossed background cut to the right size. Speaking of which, the polka dot rectangle is 5 x 7, the folded card is 6 x 8 (folded across the top); the red rectangle is 4.25 x 5.5."
