Following Lynell's three Dreamweaver Stencil classes at Art 'n Soul yesterday, there are new stencil designs for you to admire and purchase. The dry embossing technique and working with acetate certainly gives us even more reason to pick up some of these new designs and work with those fabulous stencils. Lynell says she has a primer sheet on sandwich recipes we can refer to when using the various embossing machines so your Dreamweaver Stencil design will be seen at its best when using it for dry embossing. She'll be sending it to the store and we'll post it on the blog then.
Come and get 'em!

made in the morning class, and Lynell Harlow, Dreamweaver Stencils.
I have more pics of the beautiful sample cards Lynell brought with her; I'll have to post them later because I'm running out of time!

From Impression Obsession . . . click on the
e link from Millsrepco, one of the vendors we purchase stamp and art supplies from:  IO Cover-A-Card Recipe Book. I think you'll like it! -- Post note:  if you're having trouble downloading the file, it may be the file is too large for your computer. It's quite large; the book is some 90 pages . . . A terrific alternative is to call the store and ask to order this Recipe Book . . . I know I'm going to!

'Wow! It's true, sometimes a little 'dauber will do ya'... Elizabeth, we LOVE your Memento color blending techniques - and the way you've added GooseBumps to the Social Butterflies by Penny Black Inc.'

Butterfly Congrats

"More new designs from Penny Black today!

"These are just two of the beautiful butterflies that are included in Penny Black’s “Social Butterfly” which are fluttering above  “Divine Pattern”.

Only one colored cardstock was used in this design!  After creating a card base from a Labels Fifteen die cut from Coral Reef, it was time to transform white cardstock with sponge daubers and inks for the remaining elements.

Another Labels Fifteen, this time die cut from white cardstock, was stamped with Divine Pattern in Pistachio Memento ink.  Starting from the center and working out, Cantaloupe, Pistachio, and Olive Grove Memento inks were added with sponge daubers.  Additional shading added to the stamped design was done with New Sprout and Pistachio Memento Markers.  This patterned piece was attached to the front of the prepared card with dimensional foam tape.

The butterflies were stamped on white cardstock with Onyx Black VersaFine and heat embossed with clear powder.  All shading and coloring was done with sponge daubers and Cantaloupe, Love Letter and Elderberry Memento inks.

GooseBumps clear texture spray was applied with a toothpick to the dots and patterns on the butterflies and then sprinkled with black glitter.  After the glue dried, the elements were dusted with a soft brush to remove any remaining loose glitter.

The banner was stamped with “Congrats” from Round and Round and embellished with antique silver brads.

"Social Butterfly" is also being featured on the Penny Black blog "here" along with more design team card ideas!

Have a happy day,"
Elizabeth

Sandy, owner of Some Assembly Required, will be making a return appearance at Art ‘n Soul to teach a unique class, featuring her gorgeous paper piercing technique.  It’s fun, and much easier than it looks!  Turn a simple masu box into something spectacular when you make the lid with translucent vellum, tissue paper, and Hasty Lace templates.  The process is just as easy as it is lovely to look at!  The folding is a simple origami pattern, and it’s a handy one to know.  There will be take-home patterns so that you can make boxes in several different sizes.  This is a great way to use the Hasty Lace templates!  Please bring eyewear if you need it for detailed close-up work!  A good light source, such as an Ott Light, would also be handy, if you have one.

September 29: Linda of Lost Coast Designs will be coming to do an all day Journal class and Trunk Show.  Excitement is building for this class.  The cost is $75, but we are offering a layaway program. $25 secures your spot in class, and we just ask that you finish paying for it before the class date.  Here is what she says about the class:  “Want to do a Visual Journal, but that white sheet of paper is too intimidating?  We have the class for you!!  First we’ll start with a journal with no, yup, NO white pages.  Everyone gets this very durable cool journal of walls.  And then we’ll spend the day being creative together  this is not a class geared toward inner thoughts – we’re really focusing on the visual aspect – but if you want to be a muse in your journal, that’s fine with me…it’s just not what I do.  I’ll have a bunch of my favorite quotes, my favorite coloring tools and glues, sheets of faces and words and my own outrageous collection of ephemera for everyone to use.  We’ll play with alphabet stamps pockets to hold ephemera, tip-ins to add pages to your journal, different ways to apply color, some ideas about making your handwriting look like art, and some fun exercises to get your creative juices going.  Don’t know how to do any of this??  No worries!  I’ll show you!!  Bring:  The usual class kit, exacto knife, scissors, pencil, black fine-line marker.  Also, bring some of your favorite stamps and stamp pads, ephemera, coloring tools, and glue of choice.  I’ll bring some stuff too, so don’t worry if you don’t have something.  Bring along some of your own artwork that we can incorporate into your journal.
Also in September, a date to be announced:  Mary Jo McGraw will be here to teach another all day Journal class!
