Have you checked out Cindy Sharp's classes using the Derwent Inktense colored pencils? If you haven't used these colored pencils, you'll be amazed at how the color intensity is maintained. And these pencils are not limited to paper as you'll see in the second class.

Saturday, February 21, 10 am to 12 pm, INKTENSE PENCILS 101
Cindy Sharp $30
Cindy is offering a beginners class for using the Derwent Inktense Pencils. These are fabulous
pencils that work like watercolor but are actually ink. They are much more vibrant than
watercolor pencil. They act like ink so there is a learning curve to them. This class is for
you if you own a set and have never used them, or want to experiment before buying them.
They work with stamping, paper, fabric and many other mediums. We will focus only on
paper for this class. This will be a technique class, and you will go home with a variety of
samples to use as future reference. A blank color chart will also be provided as a bonus.
Please bring your set of Inktense Pencils if you own them (let the staff know if you are
bringing them, please); a set is not required for the class. Bring a variety of watercolor
brushes, round and short handled, size 4 and smaller or size 8 round with a good tip (if
you are experienced in using it), a flat wash ¾” or 1” watercolor brush, water brush,
apron or paint clothes and your basic kit.

Saturday, February 21, 1 pm to 4 pm, INKTENSE FABRIC AND MIXED MEDIA
Cindy Sharp $30
In this class we will expand our knowledge of Inktense pencils to fabric and mixed media.
We will also learn about the Inktense Blocks. You will paint on some cotton and silk fabric,
lace and canvas. This technique class will allow you to really get to know the pencils and
colors. Art Quilters, Art Journalers, and mixed media followers will love it. Learn about the
Grate and Shake tool. Colorful fabric cards and postcards are very popular. By adding a
dyed piece to an art journal it becomes a fun embellishment. Time permitting we will
discuss how to embellish the creation with thread painting and stamping. Inktense 101 is
recommended but not required. You will go home with a variety of samples for future
reference.  Bring a variety of watercolor brushes, round and short handled, size 4 or
smaller or size 8 with a good tip (if you are experienced in using it), a flat ¾” or 1”
watercolor brush, a waterbrush, a small stencil brush or small fabric brush, an apron
or paint clothes, and your basic kit.

The following day, February 22, it's a Rosie's Roadshow class by the owner of Rosie's Roadshow, Linda Presley. We love her stamp designs that are full of whimsy and clever sentiments. What's even better is her catalog of stamp designs is still on open catalog and we're hoping to place another order before the class so Linda can bring those to the store on class day. Please check this class out and get your order in asap!

Sunday, February 22, 1pm to 3pm, ROSIE’S ROADSHOW CARDS
Linda Presley $30
Linda Presley, owner of Rosie’s Roadshow, will be teaching her favorite tips and
techniques on Sunday, Feb 22nd, 1p.m. to 3 p.m. In this class you will learn more about using the stamp positioner and templates, adding dimension, grounding and enhancing stamped images with micron pens. She’ll be using her latest stamps that were just released. Linda will provide all the materials you need to make 5-6 cards. You only need to bring your basic kit. Sample cards are at the store!

On Dianne's blog, she has created another beautiful Valentine card using the inlay technique with the Pico Embellisher. She also used the 2 Magenta stamps dear to our hearts . . . the zentangled heart designed by Dianne and the word "LOVE" designed by Susie!

This is the sweetest request for a little boy turning 9 years old on Wednesday, February 11. He's from our part of the world in Graham, Washington . . . approximately 20 miles from Lacey where Art 'n Soul is located. He is terminally ill and all he wants for his 9th birthday is 'mail' and maybe some stickers tucked inside. I'm thinking of all the cards we make, there is every reason to send a birthday card to Bubby.

I know what I'm doing between tomorrow and Monday . . . making a birthday card and finding some stickers to tuck inside the card. I'm hoping the postal delivery person will be overwhelmed with the mail delivery to Bubby's house on the 11th.
