Lisa Lee with Inchie Arts is teaching "kumomi" art at Art 'n Soul at the end of September. She said since she took the photo of her samples, she has learned a lot more and has learned how to intensify the colors. She is quite anxious to bring this art form to us, and we're so thrilled that Lisa agreed to bring kumomi art to our store. It's an opportunity to use the Splash Inks from Yasutomo that you purchased at Art 'n Soul after Lisa's last class here.

Sunday, Sept. 28, 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., KUMOMI – A NEW CREATIVE TECHNIQUE  -
Lisa Lee of Inchie Arts $28
Kumomi is a creative process combining randomness of spontaneous painting with the control of meditative drawing created by Karen Elaine Parsons of Splash Inks. The entire point of learning this technique is to experience mind and body relaxation through the action of being creative. Create a series of tiles using 4” Art Squares, Splash Inks and black pen as you find meaning in the randomness of your brush strokes.
You'll want to sign up as soon as possible. Lisa's classes are very organized, highly creative and extremely popular. Stop in or call the store at 360.357.6870.

A small order from Notions arrived today. Among the goodies are the Wink of Gold pens that Dianne knows you're going to want. More Zentangle books too!

And don't forget the small canvas boards that were used in the RubberMoon class earlier this month are at the store . . . they're only $1 each. Be sure to check them out the next time you're at Art 'n Soul . . . they're on the front counter.

Dianne made a card for Magenta's monthly challenge. It's gorgeous!

According to Ikea, these are the colors for fall. I love seeing what the color trends are and thought I'd share this with you; this is from their magazine on the Ikea website.

"Yellow: ‘The emotional effect of yellow is immediate. We feel happier and are transported to light, airy days. A pop of yellow in a room is like a ray of sunshine.’
Blue: ‘We link blue with nature, it’s calming. Deep blues lend themselves to classic interiors, aquamarine shades are more dynamic.'
Gray: ‘A neutral shade that connects and grounds yellows and blues without dominating them.'"

My sweet husband surprised me this morning with an invitation to lunch somewhere on the Tacoma waterfront. Not to miss this gift of the day and to also enjoy the summer sun, we dined at Harbor Lights on the outside deck above the water. I enjoyed the most delicate tender trout with the freshest green beans and shared a fresh peach cobbler ala mode!

Doesn't this month seem really long? Is it because we're going to enjoy the 5th weekend of the month in a couple of days? The 1st of September lands on Monday, so our monthly Recycled Rubber weekend is a week from this Saturday . . . September 6! It's amazing how much has been brought into the store. Keep it coming in, too, because you still have time to clean out some of your well-loved stash that isn't being used these days.

See you tomorrow.
