Rubbermoon featured this on their Facebook posting. Naturally, I had to go to the link and I'm so glad I did! I love how she took that little face stamp and created a zentangled tile around it.

Lisa Lee with Inchie Arts has discovered another tool die that we can use with her Art Square boards. Some of you may remember how she taught us a mosaic technique for tops of gift boxes and for cards. Sizzix has just come out with a couple of new dies that work with the squares from Inchie Arts in a few sizes. When we were making the gift box mosaic tops, we were having trouble lining the squares up evenly on the horizontal and vertical, as well as centered on the box top. Dianne's husband Jim made her a 'template' cut out that she could use; it's really nifty but none of us have a "Jim" in our own artsy life. So . . . I squealed with delight this morning when I saw this!
Item # 658867 -- $20.25 |
If you'd like to order one, please stop by the store or give us a call at 360.3576820. We're not opening Sizzix up as open catalog . . . we're just taking orders on the grid dies. There are a total of 6 sizes that go with the Inchie Arts' Art Squares.
Speaking of orders, have you seen these new Stickles colors? I found them at a store in the King County area and just had to have them. You can order these colors at Art 'n Soul right now . . .
Mary Esperanza stopped by the store and shared a couple of "Terry Medaris" inspired colored pencil projects that she had finished. Mary is an artist in her own right and loves new techniques. We've all determined that Mary 'nailed' the Terry Medaris colored pencil technique.

There are a few open slots in Terry's basic colored pencil technique class at Art 'n Soul on Friday night, May 30.
In Class One I will show you my blending techniques, then you will color one of my designs using your Prismacolor Pencils. I will provide all class materials except the Prismacolor pencils. You will need to bring a set of 36, 48, or 72 Prismacolor Premier (soft lead) pencils to class. Please sharpen pencils prior to class. Class One is a prerequisite to Class Two. If you have taken Class One from Terry before you can take it again, but you don’t have to take it to take Class Two. If you take both classes, you will receive a $10 discount on Class 2.
There's only one opening in Terry's intermediate class on Saturday afternoon, so be quick about signing up if you haven't already . . .
“CLASS TWO, INTERMEDIATE” $40
In Class Two you will create three personal pieces of art. Using what you have learned in Class One, you will stamp, then color on a ceramic tile, a domino, and heat shrink plastic. I will provide all class materials except the Prismacolor pencils. You will need to bring a set of 36, 48, or 72 Prismacolor Premier (soft lead) pencils to class. Please sharpen pencils prior to class.
Please stop in or call the store (360.357.6820) to sign up!
I love this card by Heather Telford. I don't have a link to send you to because she made it for "Stamp Nation" and there is a subscription fee to see the actual posting. If you're interested, you can go to www.stampnation.com for more information.

I loved the simplicity of the card. I can think of two different ways to achieve the background coloring. Find a background stamp and a die that you can use to make your own version of this card design.
See you tomorrow, literally! I'll be at the store from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. And I'll see you tomorrow night here on the blog. Thanks for stopping in!
Fantastic post! I love the Zentangle; love Mary Esperanza's work; love the cute funnies at the end; love it all! And even though I have Jim to make templates for me, I kinda want that Sizzix die. Is that wrong? ;-)
ReplyDeleteno Dianne, you're not wrong. you're absolutely RIGHT in wanting that Sizzix grid die! me, too!
