How cute are these cupcakes for a special party? Thanks to Els at Elizabeth Craft Designs for bringing this idea from Susan Herriford at Stamp and Scrap Nest in Simsbury, Connecticut where she taught a class yesterday afternoon.

"Susan of Stamp and Scrap Nest made these cupcake toppers! Aren't they great:-)! She used the bird die, black velvet adhesive sheets and Shimmer Sheetz. What a joy to travel and teach!" -- Els for Elizabeth Craft Designs

Yesterday afternoon, I had the pleasure of welcoming Suzanne Glazier, Pennywise Arts, to my home to teach her bottle cap pendant class to my grandniece, Camryn (sixth grader), as a birthday present. Along with 2 of Camryn's friends and my grandnephew Jacob (second grader), who is Camryn's cousin, Suzanne led them through instructions to make 5 pendants each. From set-up to clean-up, they were finished in 45-minutes!

I had told the kids to expect a 2-hour class based on the same class taught at Art 'n Soul a few times. I was shocked they could complete the class in 45 minutes! Suzanne wasn't surprised at all. I asked what the difference was  . . .  she said it's the children who are the best to teach because they have no fear and delve right in. Adults have to think about it, discuss what their options are, gain affirmation or other opinions from their classmates about what they're doing or what they're going to do, and they are very particular about the techniques for fear of failure.

Suzanne was so good with the kids, and I never heard anyone say this is "too difficult" or "I don't think I can do this!" Everyone loved their pendants and two of them were given as gifts . . . Camryn's mom's birthday was yesterday and both Camryn and Jacob made one of their pendants for her. Tara was very happy to open those gifts and wear them.

By the way, Suzanne is closing Pennywise Arts. She doesn't know what's next in her book of life, but she's moving on. We have a small supply of her fabulous micro beads left at Art 'n Soul; they are going to be packaged up and returned to her very soon so she can close out her inventory. If you want a last chance at these micro beads, you need to stop in asap (or call) before they're returned. Suzanne is not going to order any more of the beads, so this is it!

I'm sure some of you fondly remember Kazuko Ocho, a friend of Helene Metivier's who taught a class at Art 'n Soul following our trip to Japan a couple of years ago. Kazuko lives in Carlsbad, California and has remained a wonderful friend and artsy co-conspirator; she is also an Artist-in-Residence for IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko®. The AIRS have been casually discussing "how to store" inkpad ideas and Kazuko shared this one. She actually made the u-Tube video that you must watch because it allows you to see how easily she made this storage container for the Dew Drops.

I'm going to have to try this one out because I've always found it a challenge to find a neat way to store the small ink pads like the Dew Drops!

Fellow AIR Linda Lucas, aka 'Lovely Linda', has posted a beautiful card she has made for Spellbinder Paper Arts and featuring inks from IMAGINE Crafts®/Tsukineko® . . . VersaMark™, VersaMagic™ and Memento Dual Markers™.

The new order of Washi Tapes arrived this morning. I spent the afternoon pricing all 160 rolls that will be at Art 'n Soul this coming Sunday in time for Marj and Dianne's Washi Tape class. We're waiting until Sunday so the students who have signed up and waited a long time to take this second class will have first-day looks! If you're not in the class, you're welcome to purchase, too, but you'll have to wait until  Sunday! Stay tuned . . . . I'll post a pic of the variety in the next blog.

Our plans are coming along nicely for Art 'n Soul's 10th Birthday Party on June 23. You'll want to be with us to celebrate because there will be a lot of art going on . . . card making, stamping, mixed media, and some surprises!
