From this Memory Box die and the listed stamps, Marj has made a Tulip Festival. She discovered that the die cut tulip petals fit very nicely onto these stamped tulips . . . only Marj could come up with this winning combination and we really appreciate that she shares her unique artistry with us at Art 'n Soul.

While we're talking about Marj, I'd like to remind you about her Artful Weaving class at Art 'n Soul on Tuesday, May 1. She added an afternoon class when the evening class sold out. I just moved from the evening class to the afternoon class, so I believe there might be an opening left in the evening class now, and a couple of spots left in the afternoon class. If you want to sign up, please call the store ASAP (360.357.6820) because Marj is prepping for her classes now.

Tuesday, May 1, 5:30 -8:00pm (plus added afternoon class), with Marj
ARTFULLY WOVEN, $30

Come explore the Cheery Lynn  "Wicker and Weaver" unique dies that make paper weaving Oh! so much easier and artistic.  You'll make three gorgeous cards, each with a different style that will feature ribbon, stamping, Pan Pastels, and decorative paper.  Marj will share very helpful tips on construction and weaving patterns. You will receive class instructions, and there will be extra samples for your inspiration.  Please bring your Basic Kit, small trimmer, Die cut machine and appropriate plates, and your Wicker and Weaver Dies if you already have them.  (Note, if you are coming with a friend, two people could share a machine.)

It's difficult to see, but the front of the card has a piece of acetate.

At long last, here are the photos from John Petersen's box class earlier this month. To say we all had an extraordinarily fun time is an understatement. John is the only teacher, besides Helene Metivier from Magenta, that can fill a class at Art 'n Soul before we know the exact details, cost, timeframe, and have actual samples at the store.

Susie Tracy, Owner of Art 'n Soul; John Petersen of Imagine Crafts/
Tsukineko USA; and me. Susie and I adore John and all of the
art, creativity and humor he brings to Art 'n Soul.

John may look like a curmudgeon in this photo, but he's
totally the opposite. I wanted to post this pic because he's
showing how Tsukineko's VersaCraft ink stamped on a wood board.

Now you can see what a good time everyone has when
John's at Art 'n Soul. And we all learn so much. John brings
plenty of products from Imagine Crafts and Tsukineko for
us to use when making his class projects.

Everyone was given their choice of a wooden box to color, stain, stamp, collage, embellish and anything else we could think of.

The one thing we learned . . . we hope Imagine Crafts makes a very large container of their transfer medium in the very near future because a) we used a lot of it for this project; and b) a larger container with a wide mouth will allow more of our fingers in the jar!

So here we go . . .

HARRIET TROBMAN
We all oooh'd and ahhh'd at how beautifully Harriet
was able to stain and color her box; it was so rich
and the depth of color was similar to what you would
see in a vintage box waiting to be sold in an antique store.
Unfortunately, Harriet had a bad reaction to the
solvents in one of the products and was unable to continue
working on her project.

That's it for tonight. After losing this posting twice and creating it 3 times, I think I have run out of any remaining good karma for the day. In another day or so, I will post pics of the finished boxes that Sam Lee and Susie Tracy brought to the store.

Tomorrow (Sunday) is going to be another great day at Art 'n Soul. Please stop by and see what we're doing!
