Magenta, Gamsol, Prismacolor, Copics, Memory Box . . . a winning combination!

We had a winning combination of Magenta, Gamsol, Prismacolor, Copic and Memory Box Monday night and Tuesday afternoon in Sue's Gamsol class at Art 'n Soul.

These are the 4 cards we made in class . . .

Gamsol blending solution, 000 colored Copic marker for background shading,
Versamark and clear embossing powder on entire stamped floral image.

Sue demonstrated the technique of quickly coloring the stamped image with Prismacolor pencils and then blending out the color with Gamsol; most everyone agreed that using the larger blending stick was more comfortable and easier to work with.

Here's s a sampling of the students' art-in-progress work . . .

Besides the baked goodies Sue prepared for the class, she also surprised everyone with pre-stamped bookmarks to color and laminate. Everyone's efforts were all different which was a real treat to see.

These are extra sample cards that Sue brought to class . . .

Using the Gamsol blending technique with the Prismacolor pencils is definitely bringing out a new passion for colored-pencil work. Sue, we're so glad you re-discovered Gamsol and shared your enthusiasm with us.

On Tuesday afternoon, I had the chance to see Gail H. working with the spirelli technique for her Christmas cards. The ornaments she was making were quite beautiful and I wanted to share them with you; she'll bring these to the next Spirelli play day at Art 'n Soul on Wednesday, September 21, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

I wanted to share the view I had while enjoying lunch with a friend at Chambers Bay Golf Club (University Place) on Monday afternoon. It was cloudy when I walked into the restaurant, but the sun finally came out with the blue skies when we were leaving.

Sandra G. has informed me, and correctly I might add, that I forgot to post pics from Marj's birdhouse class last month. I found the photos and will attempt to post those tomorrow night.

Speaking of Marj, I hope that she and Helene (of Magenta) are enjoying their 3-day holiday in Paris before working a show in England. If I could twitch my nose, I'd be there with them to wander the neighborhoods and look for lots of Parisian ephemera to work with back home. Second best will be looking at the beautiful pics that Marj will be taking; here's hoping she'll share some of them for the blog upon her return. Au revoir!

It's bedtime. Tomorrow I join Sandra G., Laurie G., and Nancy B. at the Puyallup Fair. I hope the Pig Palace has baby piglets for me to ooh and ahh over; if that's all I see, I'm a happy person.
