The Winter CHA Sneak Peek -- Magenta!

Magenta's Winter 2011 CHA Release

Being 'best' friends with Magenta is a 'good thing'! Helene has just forwarded to us their brand new, going-to-the-press Winter 2011 CHA Release Catalog. The front cover shown above gives you a smattering glimpse of the new stamp designs that we're going to have at Art 'n Soul very soon. As we speak, Susie is busy putting a rush order together so that Magenta will have it when they open first thing Monday morning. Being the lucky person that I am, Helene is going to let me work on all of their 'make-n-takes' during CHA, so I can bring back some good samples for the store. To say I can't wait is an understatement.

Here's a sample card from Helene from one of their new stamps . . .

Magenta:  Flower Duo
Wood Mount - 09.241.N & Cling Mount - C09.241.N

These are 2 of the new chipboards debuting next week:

. . . and a few more stamps to look at!

Don't you want to just reach in to pet that sweet cat in the coffee mug? I do!
Of course, the cat may be sitting and waiting for the canary below it.

Stay tuned . . . once that Magenta order arrives, you'll want to dash to the store right away to ensure the selections you'll want to make are still available! Of course, we'll be placing another order soon after to go with the March Cat-of-the-Month order.

Another beautiful and winning card sample from Graphic 45's blog. Renee VanEpps used the Once Upon a Springtime paper collection that we will be restocking as soon as Graphic 45 fills our order. In the meantime, Webster's Pages Spring Market has been added to the spinning rack . . . please take a look!

Marj Marion has scheduled 2 more classes at Art 'n Soul, and I think you're going to want to sign up!

Monday, March 7th, 2:00-4:30 p.m. OR 6:00-8:30 p.m.,
"Pan Pastel Passions" -- $32

Come see why we are passionate about Pan Pastels at Art 'n Soul! Here is a chance for you to have hands -on-experience with this wonderful new art medium. This is a workshop-style class, so you will make card "tops", allowing you to learn as many different techniques with the Pastels as possible in one class. Marj will, however, provide a big box of assorted cardstock from which you can choose extra panels to take home with your "tops". You can make a reference notebook about the techniques with your tops, or create finished cards at home. The workshop will kick-start your imagination in using Pastels, and give you a chance to see what colors are your favorites. (You will want lots!)  The sample board only shows just a few of the tops you will make. Colors will vary between students as everyone learns a technique at the same time. Choose the afternoon OR evening class; minimum for each is 4, and maximum is 8 people. Please bring your basic kit, and if you have them, 3-4 large finger daubers marked with your name.

Tuesday, April 19th, 2:00-4:30 p.m. OR  6:00-8:30 p.m.
Crazy 'bout Birds! -- $30

If you L-O-V-E art with bird images and words, this is the class for you. Spring is upon us, and Marj's "bird-drawers" are overflowing, so it's time to gather all you "birds of a feather" and make art!  The class will feature several techniques, and our birds will be fashioned out of paper, cork, acrylic, shrink plastic and more . . . with coloring methods galore. We'll use several, beautiful Magenta bird images mixed with a variety of words and other designs as we make 4-5 finished cards. Come on . . . hop out of your nest and fly into Art 'n Soul to register! Choose the afternoon OR evening class; minimum for each class is 4, the maximum is 8 people.  Bring your basic kit and a trimmer (optional).

A new item I'll be checking out at CHA . . . Tim Holtz's collaboration with core'dinations papers. From Tim's blog  .  .  .

. . . cardstock to match the distress and adirondack lines and it's finally here!  introducing 2 new paper packs from core'dinations featuring the tim holtz & ranger - distress and adirondack collections. these papers coordinate (pun intended) with these popular product lines. the distress pack features a sheet of all 36 distress colors, and the adirondack pack has an assortment of 24 light, bright, and earthtone colors. these papers are so fun to use with many of my favorite ranger products including inks, paints, embossing powders, and so much more.

It's going to be a busy day tomorrow, so I'm signing off. I enjoyed a very nice Saturday with the Olympia Paper Dolls learning more Zentangle. Today I learned more about the "zen" aspects of the art form, and I think I know all sorts of people who should add this art form to their daily routine. It's become recognized within the medical and therapeutic communities as an anti-anxiety and stress-relieving exercise.
